After nearly 9 ½ years of meeting in non-permanent space, setting up and tearing down week after week... God has provided us with a building. The local Evangelical church here in Lebanon has made the difficult decision to shut their doors after decades of service in this community. They are an aging congregation and the work of keeping the doors open and the lights on is proving to be too great. After a unanimous church-wide decision, they decided to seek out a church in need of space and gift them with the building. Yes, I said, "gift them." All they asked in return is that Valley Life would continue to financially support two of their missionary families for the next ten years. As you can imagine, we were in awe. As we initially walked the building, there were moments where we had no words and we simply stood in silence. What a gift. What a blessing. Before we left that first day, we sang the Doxology together in what would soon be our home, by God's continued grace.
After so many different attempts at acquiring space, after so many other offers drawn up and submitted... God simply handed us a building. In one day. ONE DAY! It is so encouraging that God has seen fit to make this a part of our story. We are both humbled and grateful.
There are exciting days ahead.
These photos show the main building (constructed in 1910), as well as the 5-bedroom house and the gym/kitchen that was a Safeway at one time. Where are the new facilities...at the corner of Park and Vine in downtown Lebanon. Check here.
